Magnificat is a ministry to Catholic women that began in New Orleans in 1981 and now has more than 70 chapters. Magnificat fosters in women of all ages a desire to grow in holiness. Following the examples of Mary and Elizabeth, this woman-to-woman ministry attempts to generate a lively faith in God and His presence in our lives along with a love for Mary and the Church. The group holds four meetings a year that center around a prayer meal and feature a speaker, usually a woman, sharing her journey of faith. The meal also provides a time for praise and worship and individual prayer. Along with days of renewal and Life in the Spirit Seminars, Magnificat also sponsors Lord Teach Me To Pray, an ongoing prayer/study based on the writings of St. Ignatius of Loyola.
